  4. Это адыгейская конница?...
    или дети играют в индейцев?

  5. Yes! This is almost CinemaScope format! Great composition! Remind me Disney's MULAN.

  6. I find that comparing this amazing piece of artwork with Mulan's is quite blasphemous. Mulan's work looked heartles and this piece is amazingly evocative. For many years Disney artists became so formulaic that their work looked as if painted by numbers. Not one gram of emotion. They let the music to tell you what to fell.
How different it was with "Bambi"!

  8. Thanks everybody for your kind comments!
I agree with you Oscar, but not completely. I think that the preparatory period shows amazing work! But in film some of it disappears. Disney is huge factory and on the first place there is production.
Actualy I like concept art in Mulan very much!

  9. Andrei - we all have our unique way of doing things when it comes to art and I have to say your way is mind boggling.
I would not know even where to begin if I was to reproduce such a thing.
    I greatly admire your work.

  18. By the way, I agree with you that the production art by Hans Bacher is magnificent!!! The movie's look is a watered down version of that, but the good bits shine through because of Hans.

  19. What is this actually Andrei?
A concept for Prince Vladimir?...Something else?

    Re: MULAN
This is Disney's only well designed 'contemporary' feature - thanks to Hans - the others are all a dog's breakfast. But the story, the music -all the usual mainstream drivel...Oh god, when will it end?

Hurrah for the valiant riders, by the way.

  20. Limbolo! The shame on you! Hans Bacher is the genius but even besides him Disney collected the most gifted artists. Most of "contemporary" animated features had a unique look (certainly within the limits of Disney manner but the limits exist even at Ghibli).
Is not there a huge difference between an incentive concept art and the final full-length product?

  21. Ok, Ok, I've calmed down a bit. THE EMPEROR"S NEW GROOVE has an appalling first 10 minutes then settles into a nice groove. It is also charmingly designed by Colin Stimpson. ALLADIN is cute too - like a good pop song with a catchy hook.
Andrei, I know there many great talents who pass through the Disney machine. It is sad to see their work get mangled.
(And I don't believe that a bad film can be rescued by good design.)
It will be interesting to see how Disney develops under new management.

  22. Everything, what I show on my blog last time I drawing for fun. I can allow my self to do it .
And about "Disney", I would tell that "Disney" is not a unconditional leader anymore . It was Earlier .
But artists are still the best.:O)
